For Parents

• Confirmation Frequently Asked Questions  -- Why do we do this? This is a great document to hand out to parents at the beginning of each year. 

• Memory Work Sign-off -- For something to truly be remembered, it needs to be repeated over time. 

• Sermon Connections Sample -- Most pastors have their own Sermon Notes form. Because people 1) have a hard time listening and writing at the same time, and 2)  

Accountability 

Are they getting their work done? Have they had a lot of absences? Do they get it? How do you know? Accountability is crucial. Keep track using a few check marks, and your life will be much easier. Some things, like attendance and memory work, are obvious, but you can also check to make sure they're taking notes and finishing worksheets with a quick glance. There's no point in confirming kids who have not done the work; at that point, confirmation becomes meaningless.  

• Checklist -- Use the same simple checklist for 1) attendance, 2) memory work, 3) notes, and projects. 

• Progress Report Sample (Google doc or MS Word) -- A simple progress report that can be sent home periodically throughout the year is recommended. Nobody wants to hear their child is behind at the end of the year. 

Planning is essential! 

Having a plan is an important part of successful teaching and makes the job much easier. Inexperienced teachers plan with more detail and need to adjust more often. Experienced teachers who have gone through their resources multiple times need less detail and will only need to adjust things when they want to switch out a new warm-up, learning activity, or cool-down. When it works for your group of students, use it. When it doesn't, change it.  

• Annual Planning Form -- It will make your whole year go much more smoothly if you have a general plan. 

• Unit Plan Form -- Once you create these, you can use them year after year. 

• Daily Lesson Plan Form -- These will be very helpful for new teachers.  

• Short Lesson Plan Form -- A simpler lesson plan form for those with more experience.
